Research Overview
Folk beliefs about illness play a crucial role in social psychiatry and community health-seeking behavior. This qualitative study explores lay beliefs, causal attributions, and treatment pathways among ten tribal groups in Manipur, including the Paite tribe.
Using reflexive thematic analysis across semi-structured interviews, the author documents traditional explanatory models of health, the role of community support systems, and the integration of traditional healing with modern psychiatric care.
